We built it, will they come?

Joseph Bagan

What is the current state of broadband and what is the future?   For application functionality to be truly beneficial to businesses, we need stable, high-bandwidth connectivity at affordable prices.  Joe Bagan, the CIO of AT&T's Broadband division based in Denver, will discuss what is going on in this volatile world and will make his attempt at predicting the future.

Joseph Bagan is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for AT&T Broadband.  In this position Bagan is responsible for developing the strategy and direction of information systems, implementing technology plans and ensuring that technology investments payoff for the company.  He also ensures that the companyís information needs are met, focuses on creating scale in the companyís information systems, and decides on common systems platforms across the company.  Bagan, who joined the company in February of 2000, reports directly to Chief Financial Officer Mike Huseby. 

Prior to joining AT&T Broadband, Bagan was a partner at Arthur Andersen, where he led their Communications and Entertainment consulting practice for the Southwest Region of the United States, serving major communications and media clients including U S WEST Communications, Qwest Communications, Level 3 Communications, Jones Intercable, MediaOne and Time Warner.  Joe also was responsible for managing and directing the consulting practice of Arthur Andersenís Denver office.

Bagan has also served as an Adjunct Accounting Professor at Denver University, teaching introductory cost accounting and financial accounting courses.

Bagan has been an active member of the Colorado community for years.  He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado, an organization he has supported as a Board member since 1996. He recently completed the Leadership Denver program for the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, and Joe is a member of the Mile High Alumni Council for the University of Denver.  Bagan also volunteers for the Womenís Bean Project, Greenwood Community Church and the Denver Dumb Friends League.

Bagan holds both a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting and a Masters of Business with an Accounting Concentration from the University of Denver, and earned his Certified Public Accountant status in December 1988.  He is a member of AICPA, CSCPA, and APICS.

Bagan is married, and has three children.
