Register for the Thursday, April 8, 2010 RMIMA Meeting Green Information Technology Jon Chorley
“Green” or Sustainability is rapidly becoming part of mainstream business practices – driven by a combination of consumer pressures, regulation and enlightened self-interest. This adds additional dimensions against which organizations must be measured and businesses must compete. Information Technology has a critical part to play in enabling this evolution. While the escalating energy consumption of IT data centers are often thought of as contributing to environmental issues, the reality is that there are ways for this trend to be reversed, and for IT to deliver applications that create far larger quantum shifts in a company’s environmental position. This presentation will discuss these opportunities using a framework of Eco-Efficiency, Eco-Transparency and Eco-Innovation to illustrate how a business can use Information Technology to become an Eco-Enterprise.
