Cloud computing is a technology that cannot be ignored. Gartner Group states that cloud computing is one of the top ten disruptive technologies for 2008 to 2012. Well-known companies such as IBM, Yahoo! Google, Salesforce.com, Amazon and Microsoft are investing in cloud computing. Cloud computing is largely misunderstood, but it’s a big, big deal! Yvonne Carlson, Director of Web Technology for the University of Denver, will be presenting on cloud computing. She will be discussing the business and market drivers of this technology as well as the challenges and risks ahead. To quote Gartner analysts Daryl Plummer and Thomas Bittman, "In fact, the cloud is as big as the e-business revolution. It’ll take some time to sort out as every tech vendor uses the term “cloud” in marketing material.” |
