Chuck Hellier is a Director of Infrastructure Services for the Chief Technology Office of SunIT at Sun Microsystems. He and his team define the technology, strategy and architecture for internal data center infrastructures. Specifically, his team defines the compute, storage, and network components and design the core services such as disaster recovery, high availability, application support infrastructure, and orchestration & provisioning enterprise management tools that are deployed in Sun's datacenters. Chuck also interfaces with Sun product teams such as Cloud Computing and Solaris to help design and implement products in enterprise wide IT deployments.

Previously at Sun, Chuck was a Certified Sun Storage Architect in the IT Technology Office, and was involved in integrating storage platforms, data services, and management tools into SunIT.  Also at Sun Microsystems, as a contributor to the IT Sun-on-Sun effort, he was a product liaison to the Network Storage division and
provided leadership in deploying pre-release products within Sun. Chuck served as a manager in the IT Operations Platform Technologies group in Sun Microsystems, where his team was responsible for productionalization and standards development of products and services such as Sun Ray, Sun Cluster, Samba, SAN, and backup.

Chuck joined Sun in 1997 as an architect in the Enterprise Network Services Engineering department and was responsible for server, storage, and high-availability implementations in Sun's data centers and field offices.

Prior to joining Sun, Chuck was a Technology Director for University Computing Services at the University of Southern California responsible for a team of technologists and developers evolving USC's multimedia and core infrastructure. Chuck also held positions at USC including system analyst, application developer, system administrator, and help-desk consultant. In addition, Chuck worked as a programmer at the US Army Research and Development Center in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  He holds a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California and has over 20 years of technical and IT management experience.
