Downtown Denver: A Magnet for the Future Workforce

Aylene McCallum
Transportation & Research Manager at Downtown Denver Partnership

Downtown Denver is rapidly changing - people choose to live  there rather than heading out of the city every night.  It is not just a new generation, but a new lifestyle for many of the new residents.  These are the people who are in our job market and it is important for IT leaders to see the new demographics.  Hear about the millennial generation’s attraction to urban centers, and the values driving this attraction. The Downtown Denver Partnership has spent years studying the trends and responding appropriately to build a city where work and the rest of life co-exist.

Aylene McCallum has worked at the Downtown Denver Partnership since 2006 and has over 11 years of experience in the field of Transportation Demand Management. In addition to her transportation related responsibilities, Aylene manages the Partnership’s research program which produces the Partnership’s cornerstone report, the State of Downtown Denver, as well as a dozen other reports throughout the year. Aylene is also the staff lead for the Partnership’s highly successful Urban Exploration program – a best practices trip takes Downtown Denver’s public and private sector leaders to other cities across the country. Aylene is currently sits on the Mayor’s Bicycle Advisory Committee and was appointed a member of the Transportation Advisory Committee at the Denver Regional Council of Governments. Aylene received her degree in Public Affairs & Communications from the University of Denver and is originally from Milwaukie, Oregon

Ms. McCallum will present on the millennial generation’s attraction to urban centers, the values driving this attraction and why Downtown Denver is particularly attractive to the millennial generation.
